FreeBSD Java Plugin for Mozilla
It annoys me that this is so difficult. I just want to install Mozilla and the Java plugin and have it work. Why does that have to be so complicated? What really bothers me is that no one seems to be asking how. That suggests that everybody but me has figured out how, and that the solution is right in front of my nose and I can't see it.
Sometime ago, it was announced that the FreeBSD had secured permission from Sun to distribute a binary, natively compiled package for FreeBSD. You still have to jump through Java's license agreement hoops, but you don't have to compile it. I think I've read that it only works with FreeBSD 4, not 5. Grr.
trying the port, java/jdk14
